The first tourists arrived in Burgas

26.03.2023

Burgas Airport welcomed the first regular flight of the season. A "Boeing" 737 landed from the Polish capital Warsaw with 173 passengers, who will stay on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast - mostly in hotels in Nessebar and K.k. "Sunny Beach".

The guests were welcomed with a water salute and received gifts from the airport management.

We are starting the season about two weeks earlier than last year, which is good news for us. We start with flights to Poland and Slovakia. Tomorrow we are adding Austria as a destination, and from Tuesday Lithuania. Our expectations are for more flights this year," announced the director of Burgas Airport, Georgi Chipilski.

According to him, the recovery of the sector is happening at a relatively slow pace, but the forecasts are that this summer season will be good. However, despite positive attitudes, flight levels in pre-pandemic 2019 will be difficult to reach.

At the moment, our forecast is that we will reach a level of 67 percent of the flights performed in 2019. In the coming days, we will start actively serving the destinations of Bratislava, Poznan and Krakow, the director of the airport also said.

Charter flights at the Burgas airport should start in May. From there they reported that in the last few years regular and charter flights from and to Burgas have equaled in number, and the reason is the increased programs of the low-cost airlines.

The first charter plane in Burgas should land on May 5 this year. On May 12, the first groups from Israel organized for the upcoming summer season will be welcomed. There will be such from Gdansk and from at least two airports in Great Britain and Germany, BTA informs.
