Romanians and Bulgarians - the most numerous tourists in Varna this summer

07.10.2022

Romanians and Bulgarians are the main percentage of tourists who chose to rest in Varna and the region this past summer. This was said by the chairman of the Varna Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs Pavlin Kosev.

In his words, the past tourist summer season can be defined as dynamic, provocative and difficult, but at the same time, above all, as successful.

Many hotels this summer have improved their score from 2019. Our prediction is that 2023 will be even better. Some hotels may reach 2019 levels. Good management is more and more important than a large executive staff. Revenue management is much more important than cost optimization, he further commented.

Kosev shared that the delay of the season and its start only in the middle of July created a serious concern for the industry.
Apart from Bulgarians and Romanians, quite a few Poles and Czechs visited Varna this summer. This year, Russians are almost absent as tourists, as well as Germans. According to Kosev, many of our citizens have rediscovered our Black Sea.

Mass tourists mix several types of tourism. Those who come to our country for gambling tourism share a big problem with visas. There is an extremely large potential for such tourism by Turkish tourists. There are many rich Turkish citizens who want to visit our country, Kosev said.
