For the first time, a new tourist route connects Podgorieto with the Belasitsa hut. This was announced to BTA by the chief specialist of the Belasitsky Natural Park Sofia Ilkova.

A new hiking trail starts from the village of Belasitsa and passes through the Barn Falls, Velikova Cheshma and reaches the Leshnishki Falls. From there, it continues along the old route to the Belasitsa hut.

A hiking trail in the Belasitsa Mountains, about 10 km long, takes about 3 hours. It starts at 360 meters above sea level and ends at 740 meters.

The route is not difficult, Sofia Ilkova said, but clarified that it is still for people who have hiking experience. The only steeper section is the descent to the waterfall, but there are signs warning tourists.

The park is seeking funding options, including donations, to build paths and steps and facilitate passage.

Interest in Belasitsa is growing, the expert said. According to her, the reason is that the mountain is still unfamiliar to most tourists and that is what attracts them. Everyone finds something for himself in Belasice. Many routes are steep, but there are also routes suitable for families with small children and older people who love nature. There are also thematic routes, such as “Butterflies and flowers of Belasitsa”.

According to Ilkova, it is very simple, you need to walk for about an hour, adding that there are signs along this path that enrich the knowledge of small and big mountain lovers.
