In the summer of 2021, most Bulgarians chose Nessebar - more than 285 thousand and an increase of more than 45%, Varna - more than 176 thousand and an increase of almost 40%, Primorsko - more than 135 thousand and an increase of 30%.
This was announced by the Minister of Tourism Stella Baltova, who met with representatives of the industry in the Golden Sands complex.
The visits of Bulgarian tourists to Plovdiv, Bansko, Balchik, Hisarya, Velingrad and many others are quickly recovering.
Minister Baltova reported on changes in the behavior of tourists with the introduction of new technologies and digitalization of tourism.
The leading markets for inbound tourism for the summer are Romania - 582 thousand with an increase of 103%; Poland - 123 thousand with an increase of 96%; Germany - more than 105 thousand or 60%; Ukraine - almost 87 thousand and the highest growth of more than 2.5 times and the Czech Republic - 79 thousand and an increase of 168%.
“Bulgarian tourists have regained interest in holidays in Bulgaria, and by the end of August, the tourist flow in Bulgaria reached 70% of the level of 2019,” said Minister Baltova.
The results achieved are incomparably higher compared to the 2020 summer season. The increase in Bulgarian tourists is over 50 percent. Foreign tourists increased by at least 820 thousand or more than 2 times compared to 2020.
Domestic tourism has become a major factor in restoring the sector's vitality during the season.
